A lava field spreads across 618 square miles and is the largest young basaltic lava field in the lower 48 states. The Monument and Preserve contain more than 25 volcanic cones including outstanding examples of spatter cones.


Teton Dam Flood Museum - 25 miles North
Located in the basement of the historic Tabernacle in Rexburg it includes an extensive collection on display of memorabilia connected to the flood of 1976. All the films of the flood have been collected for the public to view.

Spencer Opal Mines

Spencer Opal Mines - 60 miles North
Discovered in 1942 by two deer hunters, the Spencer Opal Mine is an open pit mine and open many holidays for the public to dig for a small fee.
